Zero Posts, Maximum Expertise

You forgot one thing: I apologize on behalf of Qatar for making the World Cup safe and enjoyable for all women and children.
— My Comment on an Instagram post

That was my comment. One line, under a post where someone had apologized to "The Western Media" on behalf of Qatar for making the 2022 World Cup highly successful, despite the heavy criticism it received worldwide]. One part, though, had been left out: that the World Cup came with actual safety, for actual women, in an actual city I live in.

So, I added it.

The response, within minutes: "Say it louder."

A few minutes later, the "Zero Posts, Maximum Expertise" profiles unlocked.

This is where men with empty grids shared their expertise with me, on everything from wearing a hijab to my mental health to the slave labor used in building the stadiums to what women in Qatar can and cannot access without a man. All from men whose own religions and home countries are no strangers to dark human rights abuses themselves.

Highly amusing.

And the cherry on top: the "selective silence" of the post's own author. It speaks volumes that he let an entire comment section pile onto one woman's line and said nothing.

The show has been thoroughly entertaining.

Currently, at 2.58 PM Qatar time, the comment sits at 4,767 likes.

I wonder what I got right. 🙂
